Have you ever tried focusing on a business idea while sitting in a room with screaming kids? Their shrills of laughter, although cute, can be quite distracting…That’s what mompreneurs do on a regular basis.
Yes, I know, all entrepreneurs juggle many tasks while building their business; mompreneurs just have a few more items on their list ~ refereeing conflicts between the kids, helping with homework, kissing boo-boos and more. If the entrepreneur is a wife, a few more items are likely piled onto her to do list making her a wifepreneur.
As I’m not inclined to trade any of my cherished roles for the other, I have learned how to keep my family happy, my business growing and myself sane by doing the following:
-
Making the most of my free time by taking advantage of the little time I have without distractions even if it’s at 3 in the morning. At that time of the morning, silence is golden!
-
Creating a fun and safe space for my boys, ages 5 and 4, to play at my office. Involving my boys in my work, somehow, helps to alleviate some mommy guilt regarding time spent together.
-
Designating non-negotiable family time, including “adult” quiet time.
-
Grabbing the occasional lunch, dinner and/or drinks with the girls.
-
Carving out time to meditate, refocus and recharge.
Much like my business, my life is constantly evolving, therefore, how much time I dedicate to the items listed above vary from hour to hour, day to day, month to month.
At the end of the day, I guess it's all about trying to strike that perfect balance between our various "roles" as we fearlessly pursue what sets our individual souls on fire.
